Claude Code weekly limits fell 17% from the summer boost

Anthropic described it as a 25% increase. For anyone using Claude Code over the summer, the weekly limit that started on September 14 is 17% lower than the one they had.
The change
In late August 2026, Anthropic announced that the temporary 50% bonus to weekly Claude Code limits would end. The bonus had been introduced on May 13 and later extended. It ended on September 13, and in its place came a permanent 25% increase over the original baseline.
Anthropic did the arithmetic itself, as BleepingComputer reported: “Compared to today, this works out to a 17% reduction in weekly limits on Claude Code.”
The change covers Pro, Max, Team and seat-based Enterprise plans. On BleepingComputer’s example, where the original allowance is 100, a summer allowance of 150 is now 125.
Two ways to read the same number
Measured against the limits before May, the new permanent level is 25% higher. Measured against what users had all summer, it is 17% lower. Both statements are accurate, and which one matters depends on when a developer started relying on the tool.
Who notices
Anthropic says usage varies with conversation length, model choice, tool use and effort level, so heavy sessions reach the lower limit sooner. For developers who built their daily workflow around the summer allowance, the change is a real reduction in how much work fits into a week, even though the baseline itself went up.
